When it comes to accommodation, it can be quite overwhelming choosing somewhere to stay, given all the options. However, located 10 minutes out of the hustle and bustle of Rotorua on a lakeside estate, lies the perfect answer – Peppers on the Point. This 1930s lodge retains all of it’s original charm and is coupled with spectacular views over Lake Rotorua.
Upon arrival you feel instantly relaxed, the hilltop location giving an almost mediterranean feel. Many guests assimilate it to Lake Como, with the vines, greenery and stunning views. The lodge is fronted by an expansive patio, which is the ideal place to enjoy afternoon drinks or a sunset meal.
The sprawling property then stretches down to a picturesque private beach, where one could spend hours reading with the lake lapping at their feet.
The lodge itself has an old world charm about it, with perfectly selected antiques and crystal adorning the lounge and dining areas. Alongside the timber-panelled walls and open fireplaces, you feel as though you have been welcomed into someones magnificent home.
Peppers offer 9 luxury suites and each is decorated in it’s own style. The rooms are all comfortable and spacious, with their own lounge, bathroom and private balcony over-looking the lake. Waking up to the sun rising over the water is simply magical.
Each evening, guests are able to enjoy drinks and canapés in the main lounge followed by a 4 course table d’hôte dinner.
The food is prepared by the in house Chef, Craig Martin and is nothing short of exquisite. Dining at Peppers is an experience in itself and something we would recommend doing even if you aren’t a guest of the lodge. (Casual dining is offered upon request).
Peppers is a place where you can relax, indulge and enjoy the tranquility of the beautiful surrounds. We highly recommend staying here if you are passing through the city.
Rotorua is a place us kiwis don’t get to very often but when we do we are reminded of the amazing beauty and peaceful atmosphere.
